Evelyn Lockard was a beautiful person inside and out. God took her home at the age of 41 after a brave battle with cervical cancer diagnosed just after her 40th birthday. She was the rock that held a large family together. She had a brother and 4 sisters who absolutely adored her. Every one of her neices and nephews loved her like a second mother. She had a beautiful singing voice and loved the song "Rock the boat" and many songs from the "Mamas and the Papas". She had an easygoing manner and was never judgemental, loving everyone as they were. She loved playing pinochle and poker and driving her '78 Monte Carlo, which was usually piled high with neices, nephews, sisters and friends. After being diagnosed with cervical cancer her health deteriorated rapidly and she was bedridden for nealy 2 months before her death. At the time of her death, at her home in Green Oak, (Mckeesport), Pa, she was accompanied by Kevin Reed; her son from her first marriage, and James Grice; her favorite nephew who to this day mourns for her. James' mother Dolores Grice was quite close to Evelyn. Evelyn's husband Larry has since moved to Florida to retire and her son Kevin is living in Pittsburgh, PA. Her daughter Randy is living in Mckeesport, PA. Evelyn's eldest and closest sister Dolores Grice passed away December 30, 2006 at the age of 75 after bravely battling several illnesses including diabetes, heart disease, and a major stroke since the age of 57. Not a day went by that Dolores didn't mention her sister Evelyn, or "Evie" as she called her. She left a big hole in our hearts that will never all the way heal. She was one in a BILLION.
