Alterrick Rashan M. Amons Sr. (Sheek) was born December 24, 1976, to Kevin Holmes and the late Marianne Amons in Newark, NJ.
After a short battle with cancer, he departed this life peacefully on June 29, 2023.
Alterrick was educated in the Newark Public School system. He also attended trade school, earning certifications in Flagging/ Work Zone Safety and Lift Truck Propane Cylinder and Battery Safety.
One of his greatest pleasures was working alongside his father installing fences. Alterrick was an avid entrepreneur, partnering with his friends opening two retail stores.
Alterrick was a loving and selfless person who loved and cherished his family and friends. He kept you on your toes with his one-of-a-kind personality and sense of humor. He always had something funny to say with the warmest smile you would ever see. Alterrick never minced words and had no problem expressing himself at any given moment. His love was genuine, pure, and everlasting.
Alterrick enjoyed sports, and was a die-hard New York Giants fan. He also loved to cook, dance and entertain, always finding a reason for a party.
Alterrick loved his children unconditionally, and would fiercely protect and provide for them, by any means necessary. He truly demonstrated what it meant to love them "to the moon and back".
Alterrick leaves to cherish his memory his father, Kevin Holmes (Gwendolyn); sons Alterrick Rashan Amons, Jr. and Mashon A. Amons; daughters Zaniyah Wilder, Tatiyana Amons, Arianna Butler, and Sakinah Matin; granddaughter Aubrey Rollins; brothers Jamal Watson and Thomas Lamar Amons (BoBo); sisters Chinina Amons, Shavonda Holmes, and Zakiyatt Amons, special friend, Brandi Lawson, and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Marianne Amons; grandparents Shellie and Hattie Mae Amons, and Morris and Iliner Holmes; brother Kevin Holmes Jr.; Aunts, Apostle Cynthia Amons and Dorothy Priester; Uncles, Kenneth and John Amons, Harold T. Holmes, Ernest (Peewee), and Morris Jr. Holmes.
