A native of Queens, NY, Charles was the son of the late Julius and Gertrude Sullivan Holtzback. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eloise Ehleiter Holtzback, who passed in 2007.
Mr. Holtzback proudly served his country in the U.S. Army.
He is survived by his daughter, Jean Leonard; son, Charles Holtzback; six grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Holtzback's family will receive friends from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Ave. The funeral service will follow at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery, Black Mountain, at 2:00 p.m.
Mr. Holtzback will lie in repose at the funeral home from 9:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday for those who wish to pay their respects.
