At a very early age, Jean moved to Chicago under the foster care of reverend William Isaiaj Bonner and Mrs. grace Bonner. Jean was baptized in thename of Jesus at the age of 5 and was an honorary member of the National Baptist Convention throughout her life. She graduated from Calumet High School where she fell in love with passion for singing and became a member of the Calumet High School Glee Club and girls choir. In 1972 she attended Olive Harvey College and graduated in 1974 with an associates degree in Business Administration. In 1969 she married Alan Maurice Barker and to this union her daughter (my co worker and friend) Asonna Marcella Barker was born. In 1983 Jean married Mr. Nathaniel Thomas and the two shared over 20 years of matrimony.
