Kai was born on December 7, 1933, and was the eldest of four children to Jens and Sigrid (Christiansen) Andersen. He attended school in Blue Heron. In 1961, Kai married Joan Edith Lovberg where they built a house on the family farm in Blue Heron and raised their children Gay, Roger, and the Twins Shelley and Sherry. Kai was a farmer and would do carpentry jobs in the Canwood area when time permitted. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, curling, cards, solitaire, puzzles, watching movies, hockey, and Toronto Blue Jays on TV. He served on many local boards throughout the years. His grandchildren held a very special place in his heart. He was a kind and quiet man with very few words and could fix or build almost anything his family or friends would ask of him.
Kai leaves his family with a lifetime of beautiful memories to join the love of his life, Joanie. He will be missed but never forgotten.
Kai is cherished by his children; Gay (Glen) Erickson and daughter Ashley; Roger Andersen (Jennifer McLennan); Shelley Andersen (Valray Wideen) and children Chelsea, Rachelle, Shane; Sherry (Al) Felix and children Brian and Amber; his brother Gary (Norma-Jean) Andersen, his sisters Jane Hildebrand and Grethe Voigt; his brother-in-law Marvin (Mona) Lovberg; his sisters-in-law Donna Lovberg and Evelyn Baertl; numerous nieces, nephews, relatives, and friends.
He was predeceased by his wife Joan (Lovberg) Andersen; his parents Jens and Sigrid Andersen; his wife's parents Harold and Victoria Lovberg; his brothers-in-law Bill Voigt, Lorne Lovberg, Ken Gaines, Ray McAvay, Walter Baertl; his sisters-in-law Doris Gaines, Edna McAvay; his niece Jennifer Heiberg.
