Obituary
Russell D. Aitken, age 84, beloved Father, Grandfather and Poppy passed into heaven Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Carington Park Nursing Home in Ashtabula, Ohio. He was born in New Concord, Ohio on July 4, 1937 to John and Pearl (Briggs) Aitken.

Russell grew up on his family farm, which he helped operate for many years. Russ loved life and people. He enjoyed playing cards and visiting with his family and friends. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Russ was always striking up conversations wherever he went; he never met a stranger, as his family says. Later in life, Russ was very involved in Bethany Lutheran Church in Ashtabula Ohio. He served on the church council and assisted in managing the property for many years.

Russell is survived by his children: son, Russell (Becky) Aitken of Fairbanks Alaska and daughters, Debra (Rob) Boyer of Cambridge Ohio and Mary McGeady of Ashtabula Ohio; grandchildren, Russell Aitken and Rochell Aitken (Spencer) of Fairbanks ,Alaska, Robert Boyer and Lacey Boyer (William) of Cambridge, Ohio, and Vincent (Kat) Aldorasi and Patricia (Jeff) Kaydo and Salvatore Aldorasi (Amyna); great grandchildren Cheyenne (Austin) of Fairbanks, Alaska, Madison, Madeline, Caleb, Abri and Ellie of Cambridge, Ohio, and Lauren, Vincent, Isabella, Robert and Lyndsey of Ashtabula, Ohio; and so many wonderful nieces and nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wives, Mary Jane, in 2015, and Barbara; brothers, Robert, Richard, James, Dale and Donald Aitken; and sisters, Chlorys Risher and Lois Bennett.

Russell's family thanks all of the nurses, aides and staff at Carington Park Nursing home, who during the last few months made Russell laugh and enjoy the simple things of life--Especially
Angela, Adrienne, Traci, Jenny, Kim, Isabel, Azeb, Charmarie and all of A wing.

A Memorial Service will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, June 4, 2022 at Bethany Lutheran Church, 933 Michigan Avenue, Ashtabula Ohio, with Rev. David Anderson officiating. A Celebration of Life will follow in the church community room directly after services.
