J'Trell has never known what it feels like to live a normal life. Throughout his life he has been unable to participate in physical activities that you would expect from most children, teenagers and young adults. On September 26th, 1998 the night before being discharged from the hospital it was discovered that J'Trell was born with a congenital heart defect, ventricular septal defect (VSD) with L transposition.
Since then J'Trell has been in and out of hospitals, 1000's of hospital visits, a countless amount of hospitals stays, numerous amount of heart surgeries & procedures.
Not letting ANYTHING stop him he was determined to Graduate high school and follow his dreams of becoming a licensed barber!
January 2019 J'Trell had to get a pacemaker to help control the irregular rhythms of his heart. On February 1, 2019 J'Trell was placed on the National Organ donor list for a heart transplant. On April 26, 2021 after waiting over a year, J'Trell got his call and the wait was over. During Transplant J'Trell went through MANY complications. What should have been days, maybe a week, turned into 3 1/2 months in the hospital in recovery. Before he was released he proposed to his Girlfriend.
After getting released from the hospital on July 23, 2021, he was finally going to get to experience some normalcy for the first time in his 22 years of life.
In April 2023 J'Trell started to get sick again, he started losing consciousness and passing out. June 9, 2023 he was admitted to the hospital for Heart Rejection. After a VERY LONG hospital stay he got moved to the ICU for continued treatment. Things seemed to get a little better with hopes of another heart transplant but quickly took a turn for the worse. On June 27, 2023 JTrell went into cardiac arrest and was put through life saving measures to save his life. For the next few weeks his family continued to stay by his side; rarely, if at all leaving the hospital.
On July 8th, 2023 J'Trell And His Fiancé Said their "I Do's" In the ICU. He was OVERJOYED to be marrying the love of his life! With the help of the hospital, they pulled off the most beautiful wedding!
After a few days of bliss, J'Trell started to get sicker.
With heavy hearts our family knew what we thought would be another long stay was going to be our last stay. On July 25, 2023 at the young age of 24 J'Trell Passed Away due to heart rejection.
