PAWNEE - Carl William Casey was born Oct. 22, 1928, in Claremore to John "Sol" Casey and Ella Marie Wright Casey. He passed from this life Tuesday, April 1, 2008, at his home in Pawnee, surrounded by his wife and children. He was 79 years, 5 months, 9 days.

He married Billie June Schone on Aug. 11, 1950, at First Christian Church in Pawnee. They moved to Perry, then Billings, Newkirk, Tulsa, Sallisaw, and back to Tulsa, before moving to Pawnee after his retirement in May of 1985.

He was a deacon at the 41st Street Christian Church in Tulsa for 20 years before retiring to Pawnee and became a member of the First Christian Church of Pawnee.

Carl could fix anything with bailing wire and duct tape. This finished product may have not looked good, but it would work, at least for him if not for anyone else. He loved to play basketball as a child and coached a team later in life. He also loved playing golf, and anything that had to do with life on the farm. Carl worked for Southwestern Bell for 37 years and held 26 different positions. He was also a veteran of the Korean War.

Carl is survived by his of 57 years, Billie June Casey of Pawnee; his children, Pamela and Dean Randall of Southlake, Texas, Gayla and Bob Banes of Owasso, Carl David and Kelly Casey of Pawnee and Todd and Sandy Casey of Pittsburg, Kan.; 18 grandchildren, David Casey, Tammy Casey, June and Josh Schroufe, Jonathan Randall, Casey Randall, Stephen and Holli Banes, Leslie Banes, Tyler Casey. Travis Casey, Jill Kunshek, Jamie Kunshek, Kylie Kunshek, Heather Bush, Nathaniel Henry, Nichols Henry and Haley Bush; two great-grandchildren, Dyland Casey and Liam Schroufe; brother, Leonard and JoAnne Case; sister, Bernice Gerdner; plus several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Carl was preceded in death by a grandchild, Aaron Banes; his brother, Fred Casey; and his parents, Sol and Ella Casey.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, April 3, at First Christian Church in Pawnee with the Rev. Tom Scott officiating. Interment will be at Masham Cemetery in Masham under the direction of Poteet Funeral Home.
