Norman A. Butts, 68, of 9014 Tomstown Road, Waynesboro, was pronounced dead on arrival at Waynesboro Hospital at 7:45 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17. His death was attributed to a heart attack. Previously he had suffered two others. Born Aug. 18, 1921, in Wayne Heights, he was the son of the late Taylor H. and Dorothy M. (Pryor) Butts. All of his life was lived in the Waynesboro area. He and his wife, Mrs. Dorothy F. (Rock) Butts, had lived at the present residence since their marriage in May 1945. Mr. Butts served with the U. S. Army in the European Theater during World War II. As a young man, he was employed at the Wolff and McKown Furniture Store and later worked at Landis Machine Co. Prior to ill health forcing his retirement in 1982, he was last employed as a machine operator at the Mack Truck plant in Hagerstown for 21 years.
He was a Protestant. In addition to his wife, he is survived by five children: Dennis L. Butts and Mrs. Linda L. Kendall, both of Waynesboro, Miss Carol Jean Butts and Troy L. Butts, both at home, and Steve A. Butts of Fayetteville. Also surviving are five grandchildren; and these brothers and sisters; Raymond O. Butts, Mrs. Loretta Flagle, and Mrs. Esther Bowers, all of Waynesboro, and Melvin L. Butts of Las Vegas, Nev.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday in the Grove Funeral Home with Bishop G. Lamar Bonner officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday.
