William E. "Bill" Bumbaugh, 64. of 19 Reynolds Ave., Mont Alto, died at 8:06 am. Sun­day, Dec 6, 1992, in Waynesboro Hospital. He had been in failing health since he suffered a stroke Tuesday.

Born Sept. 4, 1928, in Mont Alto, he was the son of Samuel Bumbaugh and the late Goldie (Baker) Bum­baugh. He lived in the Mont Alto area all his life. Mr. Bumbaugh graduated from Quincy High School with the Class of 1947. He served in the U.S Army dur­ing the Korean Conflict. Mr. Bumbaugh and his wife, Lor­raine L. (Moats) Bumbaugh, were married Dec. 24, 1950, in Williamsport, Md., and lived at the present residence for 34 years.

Mr. Bumbaugh was employed as a truck driver at the South Mountain Restoration Center for a number of years, then as a delivery man for Shively's Dairy, Chambersburg Prior to retiring in 1986, he worked in the maintenance department for the Chambersburg Housing Authority.

He was a member of Otterbein United Methodist Church, Mont Alto. Mr. Bumbaugh was a member of the Joe Stickell American Legion Post No. 15, Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge No 1191, Order of the Owls Nest No. 1073. William Max McLaughlin VFW Post No. 695 and the Eagles Club Inc., all of Waynesboro. He served as a board member at the Eagles Club Inc. Life Member of the Mont Alto Volunteer Fire Department. Joined in 1946 and got his life membership in 1971. Bill also was the 2nd Assistant Chief at the fire department. Also serviced in the Korean Conflict from April 19, 1948 until he was Honorable Discharged in March 14, 1952.

In addition to his wife and father, he is survived by three daughters, Deborah E Bakner of Quincy, Evette M. Bumbaugh of Mont Alto, Billie Jo Reed of Spanaway, Wash, one son, Terry L. Bumbaugh of Waynesboro; six grandchildren; two great-grandchildren, and two brothers, Robert Bumbaugh and Samuel Bumbaugh, Jr. , both of Mont Alto.

Services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday in Grove Funeral Home, Waynesboro, with the Rev. Patricia A. Woolever officiating. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Quincy Township. The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 pm Tuesday in the fun­eral home In lieu of flowers, memorial con­tributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 225 East King St, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
