In 1880, he married Eliza M. ROSE and in 1883, they were blessed with a daughter, named Rhoda.
He was married the second time to Frances E. PAXTON. They were wed in New Madrid County, Missouri on October 8, 1887.
On June 12, 1899, he married once again. His third wife was to Minnie MARSSON and they, also, were married in New Madrid County, Missouri. They had at least two children, Minnie Pear, born about 1902, and Ruthie May, born May 19, 1910.
James Basil Simmons died of TB at age 55 years and 3 months at his home in Parma, Missouri.
His little daughter, Minnie Pear, preceded him in death.
He was missed by his many family members, friends, and all who knew him.
