U.S. Army Sergeant First Class Melvin P. (Bill) Bowler (Retired), of Pottstown, formerly of Pottsville, passed away on Saturday, October 23, 1982 in Pottstown Hospital.

Born in Pottsville, July 08, 1916, he was a son of the late Joseph and Gertrude Pflueger Bowler.

Bill was educated in local schools.

A retired Sergeant First Class, he served in the U.S. Army for twenty-two years. He was a veteran of World War II, having served in the European Theater of Operations and in Africa and was also a veteran of the Korean Conflict.

Bill was of the Lutheran faith.

He was a member of a Massachusetts Masonic Lodge.

Surviving are Bill's wife: the former Inga Aulenbacher, whom he married in Frankfort, Germany, in October 1948; his two brothers: U.S. Army Major Joseph L. Bowler (Retired), Schuylkill Haven, and Kenneth N Bowler, Pottsville; his niece: Nancy Wenrich, Kemblesville; and, his three nephews: Kenneth Bowler, Pottsville, Joseph Bowler, Dallas, Texas, and Stewart Bowler, Virginia.

Burial was held Friday, October 29, 1982 in Indiantown Gap National Cemetery.
