Isaac Bentley was a son of Elijah Bentley and Louisa Kilgore Bentley. He was married to Martha Jane Dobbs and they had the following known children:

Isaac served as a First Lieutenant in Company H, 1st Calvary, Confederate States Army. Two of his brothers, William Martin Bentley and James B. Bentley, died in the Civil War. Both were Privates in Company A, 35th Georgia Infantry, CSA. All three brothers are buried in the Kilgore Cemetery.
