Olympic track coach. He was an innovative track and field coach. Cerutty coached numerous Olympic & world champion runners in Portsea, Australia. His most famous athlete, Herb Elliott, was the Olympic Champion and World Record Holder in the 1500-meter and mile runs. Elliot was never defeated. Controversial and ahead of his times, Cerutty believed in low-arm carriage, barefoot running, hill running, and a natural foods diet. His runners did hill repeats on the sand dunes near his home in Portsea, Australia. He is still considered one of the greatest running coaches in history.
