MILLER, Anne Wingfield Charlton, age, 88, of Richmond, Va., passed away early Sunday, April 26, 2015, in her home surrounded by family. She was born June 29, 1926, in Buckingham County, Va., to the late Edgar Anderson Charlton and Theresa Moreau Johnson Charlton. She was preceded in death by her husband, James Ernest Miller; and siblings, Edgar Anderson Charlton Jr., Lucy C. Johns, James Spottswood Charlton and Charles M. Charlton. She is survived by her loving sons, James E. Miller Jr. (Joyce), Charlton Johnson Miller (Jeanne), David Day Miller (Kay), William "Bill" Joseph Miller (Sylvia); grandchildren, Jessica K. Miller, James E. Miller III, Jonathan J. Miller, Virginia A. Miller, Charlton J. Miller Jr., David D. Miller Jr., Miranda K. Miller, Haley N. Miller, Logan E. Miller, Peyton B. Miller; sister-in-law, Margaret H. (Peggy) Redd; and many nieces and nephews.

A native of Dillwyn, Va., Anne received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Longwood University in 1947. She continued her education at Virginia Commonwealth University, from which she received her Master of Art Education in 1980. Anne taught art and jewelry making in the Richmond City School System for over 30 years. She was a gifted artist and teacher. Anne was an active member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over five decades. Anne was also an avid bridge player who was a member of a bridge club formed in Farmington for over 50 years.

In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be made to the Arthritis National Research Foundation, Trinity United Methodist Church, 903 Forest Ave., Richmond, Va. 23229 or a charity of your choice. Viewing will be held at the Parham Chapel, Woody Funeral Home, 1771 N. Parham Rd., Richmond, Va. on Friday, May 1, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. A memorial service will be held at Trinity United Methodist Church, 903 Forest Ave., Richmond, Va., 2:30 p.m. Saturday, May 2, 2015.
