Phyllis Reade - age 90, of Kentville, formerly of Auburn, passed away on July 20, 2020 at Shannex Orchard Court, in Kentville. Born on July 6, 1930, in Woodside, she was a daughter of the late Joseph and Charlotte Cox. She is survived by her children, Donna (Jim) Mount, Robert (Sabrina) Reade and Paul Reade; sisters, Ruth Bigelow and Joyce Parker; brother, Victor Cox; grandchildren, Cory Murphy, Todd (Stephanie) Murphy, Ashley (Mark) Huntley, Krista (Craig) MacDonald, Michael Reade, Melanie Reade, Holly (Will) Jones, Denise Landry and Jason LeBlanc; 19 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Ephraim "Jack" Reade, sisters, Lucy, Greta and Dorothea; brothers Robert, Bernard, Paul and Kenneth; and daughter in-law, Darlene Reade. At a youthful age she started working at the Tel and Tel phone company working as a switch board operator in Canning, N.S. She eventually relocated to the city and met her husband, Ephraim, after he hired her to work in his store. They went on to live a remarkable life together with their children, owning Reade's Pick and Pay in Dartmouth, and constructing multi-Family housing structures in the Dartmouth area. Her zest for life was something to be admired as she found enjoyment in every activity. She loved spending time with her friends, and especially her family. We have many cherished memories together either spending time at her Cottage in New Brunswick or visiting her at her home. She loved listening to music and dancing. She always had a lovely cooked meal waiting for you upon your arrival, a candy dish that was always full, and lots of hugs. She will be greatly missed by all who knew her, we will love you always and forever! There will be no funeral service by request. A private family graveside service to be held at a later date and burial will take place at Oakridge Memorial Gardens, Middle Sackville, N.S. Donations in her memory can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, or one of your choosing. Burial arrangements have been entrusted to the White Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services.
