Glenn Earl White, age 78, passed away Sunday morning, April 6, 2003 after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease.

Mr. White was born Jan. 23, 1925 at Miami, Okla. to Karl and Nona White.

He and Phyllis Dean Lauener were married on Aug. 27, 1948. She survives.

Mr. White moved with his family from Baxter Springs, Kan. to Joplin in his senior year in high school. He attended Joplin Junior College one semester before enlisting in the United States Navy. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific as a Torpedoman 3/c on the U.S.S. Shields.

Mr. White had the Glenn E. White Real Estate Agency for many years. He was awarded a Life Honorary Membership in the Joplin Board of Realtors and a Life Membership in the Missouri Association of Realtors.

Mr. White was an avid fisherman and golfer. One of his fondest memories was playing the Spyglass course at Carmel, Calif.

During his younger years, he was active in the Joplin Junior Chamber of Commerce and was given the Key Man of the Year Award for organizing a city-wide Church and Community survey in 1959.

He is survived by a daughter, Leslie Ann Potts; and a son, Bradley Glenn White; one granddaughter, Rachel Potts; and two grandsons, Jared and Justin White, all of Joplin.

He is also survived by four sisters, Virginia Fain, Renton, Wash., Phyllis DeTar Stewart, Carl Junction, Joyce White, Kansas City and Kay White, Visalia, Calif.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Church of Christ, 26th and Connecticut, where he was a member. Don Deffenbaugh, minister, will officiate.

Burial will be in Osborne Memorial Cemetery. Pallbearers are Ed Stewart, Bill Johnson, Gerald Howell, Jim Frazier, Melvin Harter and Aaron Garritson. Honorary pallbearers are Raymond Bell, Lee Sexton and Jim Glass.

Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Disease Research in care of Parker Mortuary or the Church of Christ Library Fund.
