Joel Franklin Halliday passed away Monday, October 6, 1997, at Jackson County County Memorial Hospited in Altus at the age of 82.
Joel was born December 4, 1914, in Sherman Texas to Thomas Edison and Sadie{Boaldin} Halliday. He was a life long resident of Eldorado. Joel served in the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, being Honorably Discharged at the rank of Coroporal. Joel was employed with the United States Postal Service as Postmaster for over thirty-six years. He was a member of the Eldorado Church of Christ and the American Legion.
Joel is survived by his sister-in-law Virgie Halliday of Ranger Texas, one nephew Thomas Ed Halliday and his wife Eldora of Hot Springs, South Dakota, three nieces Virgie Dean Lanier and her husband O.G. of Midland, Texas, Edna Good and her husband John of Yellowstone, Wyoming, and Pat Greer and her husband Jerry of Ranger, Texas, and a host of cousins and friends.
Joel was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Halliday, and two sisters, Estellee Wilder and Evelyn Tate.
