Funeral services were held for longtime Sandy, OR resident Dora M. Hyde on Saturday, April 4, at Sandy Funeral Home. Burial was at the Scandinavian Cemetery in Sandy.

Mrs. Hyde, 91, died at a Sandy care center on April 1, 1998.

She was born Nov. 29, 1906, to John and Evy Hunter Croston in Hazard, NE. She grew up and was educated in Nebraska.

In 1927 she was married to Bernard "Bud" Hyde in Grand Island. They lived in the Midwest and in Idaho before moving to Sandy in 1945.

She devoted herself to rearing her children and to her home. She also worked for the Oregon Bulb Farm where she was employed from 1960 through 1986.

Her husband preceded her in death in 1986.

She enjoyed traveling, particularly to Alaska; sewing, watching soap operas, reading and gardening.

She is survived by her daughters: June Hyde-White of Des Moines, IA; Betty Logan of Pomona, CA; Ellnora Soule of Portland, OR; Beverly Stone of North Pole, AL; Lorna Dotson of Long Beach, CA, and Dorothy Forster and Barbara Garber both of Boring, OR; sons Vernon of San Clemente, CA; Gene of La Mirada, CA; and Charles of Portland, OR; one brother Tom Croston of Hazard, NE; 21 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her sister Ruth Crawford in 1997.

Sandy Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
