In 1836 William Edward Partington was born in Preston, Lancashire, England, the son of Ralph Partington and Ann Taylor.
When William was seven, in 1843, the family came to America aboard the ship "Swanton" and lived several years in Nauvoo, Illinois then St. Louis, Missouri before migrating to Utah.
William Partington was a captain in the James P. Jepson wagon train company which arrived in the Salt Lake valley on 10 Sep 1852.
At the age of twenty in 1856, William participated in the rescue of the famous Willie and Martin Handcart Companies in Wyoming.
William Edward was the husband of Annie Elizabeth Cowley. They had ten children together. After her death in 1872, William married Enga Anderson on 29 March 1875. She was a recent Swedish convert and immigrant. He had another ten children with Enga. Eighteen of his children lived to adulthood. The Partington's had a home in Logan, Utah.
William Edward Partington farmed in nearby Peterboro, Cache County, Utah and served a mission in England for the LDS church in 1900.
He is honored by his numerous posterity.
