Andrew Martin Derifield, 59, of Franklin Furnace, died Monday, March 24, 2008, at home.

He was born Dec. 19, 1948, in Whitehead, Va., to the late Sylvester Edward Derifield and to the late Lessie Delores White Derifield Large.

He is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Olive Diane Otworth Derifield, whom he married Nov. 6, 1972. He is survived by two daughters, Tamara Renee Bush, and Christina Binion Gaffney and her husband, Mark; and two sons, Andrew Martin Derifield II, and Adam Michael Derifield, all of Franklin Furnace. Also surviving are nine grandchildren, Jordan LeighAnne Roberts, Zachery Shane Underhill, Dylan Michael Derifield, Nikolas Ryan Gaffney and Peytan Danielle Gaffney, all of Franklin Furnace, Jesse Taylor Bush of Nixa, Mo., and Baley Jakob Derifield, Kori Nicole Derifield and Caleb Andrew Derifield, all of Wheelersburg, Ohio.

Surviving also are two sisters and three brothers, Shirley Harmon of Ironton, Ohio, Eva Webb and her usband, Don, of Ocala, Fla., Dallas Derifield and his wife, Carolyn, of Groveland, Fla., Donald Deri-field and his wife, Rebecca, of Franklin Furnace, Ohio, and Raymond Derifield and his wife, Anita, of Pedro, Ohio; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death were two sisters and one brother, Geraldine �Bobbie� Burns, Shelvie Burch and Ronald Derifield.

He was a graduate of Green High School in the class of 1967. In September of that year, he began a 34-year career at AK Steel, formerly known as Armco. Andy loved old cars and loved to work around the country farm. He also loved to hunt deer and fish.

Visitation will take place at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 South Seventh St., Ironton, Ohio, on Thursday, March 27, from 6 to 9 p.m. Funeral services will take place at Plymouth Heights Nazarene Church in Franklin Furnace at 1 p.m. Friday, March 28, with the Rev. Tim Throckmorton and the Rev. Roger Lavender officiating. The body will lie in state one hour before the service at the church. Interment will be in Junior Furnace Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Adam Derifield, Zack Underhill, Jamie Keller, Dave Burditt, Mark Bush and Noah Dean Hopper.
