CEDAR BLUFF, Va. — Mrs. Mary Frances Adkins, age 72, of Cedar Bluff, Va., passed away Friday, March 07, 2008 in a Richlands, Va. hospital following an illness of several months.

She was born in Swords Creek, Va. and was the daughter of the late Carlos J. and Ellie Perkins, both Russell County natives.

She had made her home in the Richlands, Va. area most of her life and had attended the Open Door Community Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Oliver (O.W.) Smith; her second husband, George S. Adkins; and two brothers, Dallas Perkins and Wayne (Jed) Perkins.

Survivors are: One daughter: Shelia Mullins of the home; five sons: Dwaine Smith and wife, Linda of Oneonta, Ala., Ken Smith and wife, Kim of Richlands, Va., David Smith and wife, Teresa of Belfast, Va., Michael Smith and wife, Debbie of Richlands, Va., Tommy Smith and Peggy Russ of Cedar Bluff, Va.; one sister: Wanda Robertson-Greear and husband Howard of Lebanon, Va.; one sister in law: Charlotte Perkins; two stepchildren: Mike Adkins and Brenda Kinder. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren also survive.

Funeral services for Mrs. Mary Frances Adkins will be conducted Sunday, March 9, 2008 at 2:00 p.m. at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Va. with the Rev. Rick Whitt, the Rev. Charlie McGlothlin and the Rev. Scotty Perkins officiating. Interment will follow at Greenhills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va. Pallbearers will be: Jeff Robertson, Kevin Robertson, Danny Stinson, Chris Ward, Mike Taylor, and Brock Atwell.

Friends may call after 6:00 p.m. Saturday (today) at the Hurst-Scott Funeral Home in Richlands, Va.
