Julia Floyette Ball Freeman (Judi) passed away on the afternoon of August 16, 2023 in Mobile, AL. She was born on March 15, 1943 to Floyd Lawrence Ball (Dick) and Mildred Marie Slay at their home in Avera, MS where she spent her childhood.

Judi graduated from Sand Hill High School in 1961 and married the love of her life, Charles Ottis Freeman, on October 7 of the same year.

For over 30 years, Judi was well known in the Mobile, AL area as being the driving and creative force behind her business, Cakes by Judi. She was exceptionally happy when serving customers and particularly being part of their special moments including weddings, birthdays, and other such occasions through creating unique cakes for those celebrations. "Ms. Judi" could often be seen on local television shows decorating cakes or, sometimes, gingerbread houses with her grandchildren. She was the most happy when contributing to the happiness of others. Her family thanks the very large following she had of customers who became friends and spanned multiple generations.

Judi was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her two sisters and their husbands Helene Marie and Rex Donald Roberts along with Peggy Mae and Jack Spurlock.

Judi's life will be celebrated in Mobile, AL at Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Wednesday, August 23, 2023 from 4pm to 6pm and she will be laid to rest at Mutual Rights Methodist Church Cemetery in Avera, MS on Thursday August 24, 2023 at 3pm.
