Colleen Frances Berrian, 61, of the Town of Hyde Park, entered into eternal rest on Monday, August 21, 2023, surrounded by her loving family and friends.
Colleen was born December 14, 1961, in Poughkeepsie. She is predeceased by her parents, Deacon James R. and Barbara E. (Jaycox) Hayes. Colleen was a lifelong area resident. She graduated from F. D. Roosevelt High School in Hyde Park in 1980. She attended and graduated from Dutchess Community College and Marist College.
She worked at the Dutchess County Department of Mental Health in Poughkeepsie and more recently was a French Teacher for the Rhinebeck Central School District.
Mrs. Berrian was a communicant and former CCD Teacher at Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park.
Colleen was a former volunteer firefighter with the Fairview Fire Department, and a former Scout Leader, when her son was active in Boy Scouts. She also volunteered her time to various other events and activities for her children.
She was an animal lover and had many pets over the years. Colleen loved to crochet, sew, and bake, and enjoyed canning fruits that she picked locally. She often entered her creations at the Dutchess County Fair. Colleen loved camping in the Catskills and vacationing in Cape Cod, where she spent many happy summers as a child. She instilled her love of Cape Cod in her children and grandchildren.
On February 18, 1989, in Hyde Park, she married the love of her life, Robert A. Berrian. They shared 34 wonderful years together and he survives at home.
Colleen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, and cousin. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her son, Devin R. Berrian and wife, Emily, of Milton; daughter, Megan F. Berrian and fiancé, Jacob DiBlasi, of Stanfordville; and five grandchildren, Noah J., Abigail M., and Bailey S. Berrian, and Corra A. and Jack R. DiBlasi.
She is also survived by her siblings, Sharon A. Hayes of Poughkeepsie, Felicia M. Ritters of Hyde Park, Jaime E. Vincent and husband, Steven, of Dover Plains, James P. Hayes of Elizaville, Jennifer C. Mund and husband, Paul, of Rhinebeck, and sister-in-law Lisa Hagadorn of Clermont.
Colleen was also loved by her many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. She actively kept in touch with loved ones and held her family foremost in her mind and heart.
Calling hours will be Tuesday, August 29th, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, August 30th, at 9:45 a.m., at Our Lady of the Rosary Chapel of St. Peter's Parish, 185 Hudson View Dr., Poughkeepsie. Burial will follow in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park.
