Mr. Daniel Francis Schumacher, age 72, of Douglasville, Georgia passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023. He was born on July 29, 1951 in Harbor Beach, Michigan.
Daniel was a Veteran having proudly served his country in the United States Army with 20 years and 3 months of service. During the time of his service, he served in numerous armor units, later as a Drill Sergeant, where he trained the next generation of soldiers. After performing the duties as a drill sergeant, he was in charge of a training unit in Germany and spent a tour in the Gulf War before he retired. One could tell the love he had for his country by the way he looked at the flag. After retirement as an Active-Duty Member of the Military he became a Government Contractor and trained multinational personnel in a highly classified allied show of force simulator where he served an additional 26 years.
Following his time in the military, he attended the Police Academy and worked for a brief time of his life as an investigator before he left the workforce to better serve his family and community.
Daniel was an Angel on Earth; he loved to help people and never met a stranger. The kindest and most generous person you have ever met and loved by many. Above all, he was a devoted family man.
He followed God's word: Share with the Lord's people who are in need. Practice hospitality (Romans 12:13)
Daniel adored his wife, Brigitte, chasing after her with haste when he noticed she left her wedding ring on the counter, proposing to her again and again every time. As a family, they planned annual camping trips to the beach and loved being able to spend more time with the grandchildren. He loved to ride and pamper his Harley and would smile at the sight of any and every classic car that passed by. Daniel found such a passion for classic cars that he could tell you every detail, the make, model, and year, of any he came across, and would love to tell you every unique detail there was to know about them. He loved animals, especially his dogs, all of which he showed the same care and generosity as he did for the rest of his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, LaVern William and Evelyn Agnes Schumacher and his brother, James (Jim) Schumacher.
Those left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Brigitte Schumacher; children, Manuel (Carola) Schaefer, Zaniel (Rodney) Schumacher-Thalhuber, Angela Rush, and Monique Schumacher (Alejandro Meneses Toro); brothers, Paul (Sharleen) Schumacher and Michael (Jennie) Schumacher; sisters, Sandy (Garth) O'Mara, Sharon Pawloski, Deanna (Gerald) Wolschleger, Joan (Gary) Kirsch, and Kay (Wayne) Stomack; grandchildren, Nadine, Jason, Gary, Christine, Brock, Elizabeth, and Brody; and sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Ilona and Norbert and their children, Carina and Marcus, and all his Nieces & Nephews.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday, September 1, 2023 from 1pm to 2pm with a chapel memorial service starting at 2pm. After the service a reception will be held from 2:30pm to 4:30 pm.
