Ninth child out of twelve (known) to George and Mary Yanovitch. Dukie left home at seventeen and lied about his age, in order to enlist in the Army. He added a year to his date of birth, which is why 'official' documents have 1920, not 1921 as his year of birth. He was married before he shipped out to Naples during WW2, but divorced after he returned home. He spent most of his life in the army, but retired to his home town after his hitch had ended.
