Alvin Earl Adkins

ALDERSON – Alvin Earl Adkins, 58, formerly of Kansas City, Mo., died Friday, March 12, 1999, in a Greenbrier medical center following a long illness.

Born Oct. 10, 1940, in Meadow Bridge, he was the son of Sadie C. Adkins of Alderson.

Mr. Adkins was a retired painter having retired from General Motors, Fairfax Plant, Kansas City, Kan., after 17 years. He was of the Baptist faith and member of the United Auto Workers Union, Local No. 31. He also served in the Army.

Survivors include two sons, Paul Kevin of Independence, Mo., and Andrew Earl of Excelsior Springs, Mo.; one daughter, Lisa Gail Dec of Independence, Mo.; two uncles, Raymond E. of Liberty, Mo., and James J. Adkins of Cape Coral, Fla.; one aunt, Berthe E. Kirby of Alderson; one great-uncle, Clarence Bragg of Alderson.

Services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Lobban Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Harry Jackson officiating. Burial will follow at Fletcher Addition in Alderson Cemetery.

Friends may call 7 to 9 p.m. today at Lobban Funeral Home.

James Adkins, Jesse Kirby, Ashby "Sam" Bennett, Jennings L. Mitchem Sr., Edwin Ray Harris and Dan Crowley Sr. will serve as pallbearers.
