Ada E. Myers Brown, 81, died Tuesday, December 30, 1986 at her home in Las Cruces, New Mexico where she had lived for eight years. Ada was born to David J. and Sarah J. Myers at their sod home in Gove County, Kansas on December 26, 1905. She attended a country grade school in District 29 and later attended high school in Oakley where she graduated in 1923. After attending Normal School in Hays, Kansas, she taught in schools in Gove, Logan and Thomas counties until she married Floyd William Brown of Levant on January 19, 1929. A son, Russell Roy, and a daughter, Norma Lee, were born to this union.

Ada was an active member of the Colby United Methodist Church and WSCS most of her adult life. She was once selected as Colby's Methodist Woman of the Year. From age 55 until age 70, she served as a volunteer with the Grey Ladies caring for people at St. Thomas Hospital. Being a member of the Coffee Club of Colby was a major enjoyment in her life.

Ada was a member of Rebecca Lodge No. 514 and the Ladies Encampment 137. She served as Noble Grand, nine years as treasurer of the Ladies Auxiliaries Patriarchs Militant of Kansas and numerous years as representative to the Rebekah Assembly of Kansas.

Ada was preceded in death by her parents, eight brothers and four sisters.
