The family moved to Pateros, Washington, and lived there for a few years before moving to Twisp, Washington. George graduated from Twisp High school before receiving a technical certification from ITT Technical Institute.
George moved to Longview, Washington, where he met the love of his life, Ruth Smith. They married in June of 1980, and together they raised their only child, William Davelaar.
George retired in 2008 after a long career in HVAC, refrigeration, maintenance, and repair. He worked for companies such as the Denny's restaurant franchise, General Growth Properties, and other property management companies. He truly loved what he did, and he was very talented in his field.
George enjoyed many hobbies over the years, including motorcycling, snowmobiling, bowling, and fishing. He valued hard work and his family. He was a stubborn yet caring man. He had an infectious laugh that would fill a room. He was easy to love and made friends with just about everyone he met.
George is survived by his son, William Davelaar, and Daughter-in-law, Michelle. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Brandon, Julianna, and Jacelyn, and two great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife Ruth; granddaughter, Michaela; parents, and his brothers, Mark and Rich Davelaar.
George was like no other and will be greatly missed.
Per his request, no service will be held. Instead of flowers, the family has asked for donations to be made to River's Edge Rehabilitation & Living Center in Emmett, Idaho.
