Olympic Champion. He was a Soviet fencer that competed at the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul, Korea. At the event he was a member of the men's foil team that procured the gold medal for Russia. He was awarded the Order of the Badge of Honor (1989), the Order of Friendship of Peoples (2004), the medal of the Order of Merit for the Fatherland, 2nd degree (2003). In 1989 he returned to school, Military Institute of Physical Culture where he graduated in 1990. He passed away at the age of 57.
