Brett Paul Aasen was born on March 3, 1965 at Iowa City, IA, to Paul and Carol (Ferguson) Aasen. Brett attended New London-Spicer Schools graduating in 1983. He continued his education at Ridgewater College and then attended Southwest Minnesota State University earning his degree in chemical engineering. Brett was a cook at Mels in Spicer and one of the first cooks when Perkins Restaurant first opened in Willmar. Brett enjoyed fishing, skiing, motorcycling, photography and life on Lake Florida.

Brett is survived by his mother, Carol Aasen of Spicer; brothers: Bryan, Blair (Lisa), all of Spicer; and sister: Beth (Mike) Petersen of Willmar; seven nieces and nephews: Mitchell, Emma, Kody, Hannah (Zach), Andrew, Nicholas and Jessica; two great nieces and one great nephew.

He was preceded in death by his father, Paul Aasen; and both his paternal and maternal grandparents.
