William Martin "Guido" Pagoota came to the United States in 1913 from the San Giovanni province of Benevento, 40 miles north of Naples, Italy. His first job in the united States was at a Pittsburgh steel mill. His service in the Cavalry during WWI brought him south to Camp Greene in Charlotte, Mecklenburg County, NC. While in Charlotte he met and married Susie Smith. After his marriage, he became a hand in the Charlotte Johnson Mills, later the Old Dominion Box Factory. Then in 1926 he went to work for the Ford Motor Company in Charlotte helping to build the 315 Model T Fords produced each day. After 31 years with Ford Motor Company, he retired in 1956.

He has a member of Thomasboro Baptist Church in Charlotte, NC and met the Father in September of 1981 at the Veteran's Administration Medical Center in Salisbury, North Carolina.

Until the time he went home to Heaven, he always spoke most highly of his late wife, Susie Smith Pagoota, who met Jesus in 1970.
