Best I can come up with at this time is that LeRoy was the first child of John W Butler and Mary Elizabeth "Lizzie" Sanders. They were married probably around 1860 or so but we don't have any age or birth dates for her to verify his mother's age. She died in 1893 apparently from problems from child birth when their daughter Lillie Edith was born. I think we are correct in associating this Infant "Leroy" with Lizzie because the headstones are of the same stone and look about the same age. Now, he could possibly be a twin of Lillie Edith and both mother and baby died around the same time. This is all speculation based on what little solid evidence we have and from the history written by John's second wife, my Great Aunt, Lilly Isabella "Belle" Bolender. Many genealogy trees, even family ones, confuse the fact that Lillie Edith was an infant when John and "Lilly" Bolender were married and she took the child in as her own. There is also confusion and mixing of a John and Catherine Butler's family from Iowa and California with our John and Lizzie & Lilly's family. Including a LeRoy Butler. So we continue to dig. In my tree I have date placed John and Lizzie's marriage as 1890 and LeRoy's birth and death date as 1890-1892, but these are simply to place the data as close as possible.
