Funeral services for Lewis Clark Birch, 78, were held at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Friday, 6 October 1989 at 2 p.m. with Bishop Paul T. Schneider conducting. Mr. Birch died suddenly on 3 October 1989 at his residence.

He was born 2 November 1910 in Albion, Idaho, a son of Lewis F. and Anna M. Clark Birch. He grew up and attended school in Albion. He served in the U. S. Navy for four years.

In 1936 Lewis and Emma Etta Knowles were married and they lived in Burley, Idaho. Three years later, in 1939, they moved to Salmon.

In January of 1945, Lewis married Josephine C. Foster. During the early 40s he was involved in horse logging and had a portable buzz saw he used to cut wood for those needing his services. He was later employed at the Intermountain Sawmill.

Lewis is survived by two sons, Samuel Birch of Salmon and Clavin C. Birch of Decorah, Iowa; two daughters, Macel Ann Birch of Lebanan, Oregon and Cloie Lerback of Missoula, Montana; one brother, John (Jack) Birch of Salmon; two sisters-in-law, Delores Birch of Salmon and Marjorie Birch of Burley, Idaho; several step-brothers and sisters; 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Burial took place in the Salmon Cemetery.
