Max was born in Frankfurt on the Rhein, Nassau, Germany about 1836 (per Death Cert.) He immigrated to American, arriving May 18, 1848, through the Port of New Orleans. His age was listed as 17, which would make his birth in 1832. He married Theresa Hess on Jun 20, 1854. They had nine children, John, Louise, Elizabeth, Frank, William, Lillian, Charles, Margaret and Anna Barbara Hambrick. He was a Saddler/Saddle Maker by trade. Max Americanized his surname from Haubrich to Hambrick. Son, William kept Haubrich and sons John Peter & Charles changed their's to Hamburg.
