JOHN H. TIPTON. 39. formerly of Aston Township, died Thursday in the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He lived on Norwood Ave., Thomdale. Mr. Tipton was employed at Gindy Manufacturing Co. in Downingtown. He is survived by his widow. Margaret Meehan Tipton; a daughter. Marsha Ann; two sons. John and Jeffrey; 10 brothers. Raymond of West Grove, Hcnrv. Edward. Isaac, Samuel. Luther. Bruce all of Downingtown. Fildon and Erby both of Gradyville, and his twin brother, Chief Richard Tipton of Aston Township. Solemn mass of requiem will be sung at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph’s Church in Downingtown Rurial will be in St. Francis de-Sales Cemetery, I^nni. Calling hours will be 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at the Townson funeral home. 43 W. Lancaster Ave. Downingtown.


My Uncle JOhn Tipton was held as a prisoner of war by Germany. He escaped twice and was recaptured twice. His mother died a few months before he was released from captivity believing he had died during the war.
