The Austin American Statesman (TX) September 20, 1995 > J. C. "Cliff" Alsup, age 75, passed into the arms of his loving Savior, Jesus Christ, in the comfort of his own home, with family at his side on September 18, 1995. Cliff was born on September 3, 1920 in Galveston, TX. to Gideon and Hazel (Kenndell) Alsup. He grew up in Galveston, attended Ball High School and served in the Air Force during World War II, stationed in Bodney, England with a fight squadron. He married Sybil Isabel Bryce, also of Galveston, on January 2, 1946. He attended the University of Houston after the war and graduated with a degree in business administration. He began his career as a commercial dishwasher, purchased a franchise in Auto Chlor Systen. Cliff pioneered the low temp dishwashing industry in Texas with Southwest Auto Chlor. Through Cliff's 47 years of able leadership, Southwest Auto Chlor went from a pioneer in an infant industry to a leader in its field. Others include his sisters, Patti Jenkins of Houston and Skip Flood of Halletsville; and his brothers-in-law James Bryce and George Flood, as well as his sister-in-law, Virginia Bryce. Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 19, 1995 at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 North Lamar.
