Mary Ann was the daughter of John and Mary Murphy. She married Martin F. Spellman (son of John Spellman and Bridget Ford), and they resided in New Barbardoes (Hackensack), Bergen County, New Jersey. They had two sons, Martin F. Jr., and John Frances. Unfortunately, Mary Ann and her husband where not married very long, when Martin died (1884, at 30 years of age) leaving Mary Ann with her two sons (under 3 years of age). Nine months later, Mary Ann passed away due to Typhoid Fever at 30 years of age.
