Lucy was born December 22, 1922, in Montgomery County, to Sim Taylor and Madie Gaither Doughtie. The Doughtie family home where Lucy was born, still stands today down a shady country road.
Lucy attended the country school at Oklahoma Community. She then attended the University of Texas, and was later employed by the Draft Board of Houston. Lucy met and married her husband, Johnny Stone, who was a geologist. Lucy and Johnny had one daughter, Barbara. Johnny's career took them to numerous countries, and eventually they made Houston their permanent home. Lucy later worked in the bookkeeping division for Dow Chemical Company. She was an avid reader, a hobby she enjoyed throughout her life. Lucy loved playing bridge with her friends in West University and read the stock market reports every day. She was a very sweet, loving, witty lady who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Lucy was preceded in death by her husband, Johnny; and her daughter, Barbara. She is survived by her sister, Betty Jean Doughtie; nephews, Venton L. Doughtie and Richard Stone; nieces, Carol and Thelma; dear friends, Ann and Will DeVaney; her loving and devoted caregivers, Elida Tores, Francisca Mendoza, and Connie Hiracheta.
A Graveside Service was held on Wednesday, April 9, 2008, at Willow Creek Cemetery in Tomball.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the National Parkinson's Foundation, or the Muscular Dystrophy Association.
