Doris Lavern Britt, daughter of the late Charlie and Sadie Whitehead Adams, was born on June 9, 1938, in Powe, Missouri, and departed this life on September 2, 2023, in Michigan, at the age of 85 years.
Doris worked for Clarkston Community Schools, in Clarkston, Michigan for many years. In her spare time, she enjoyed being an active member of the Oakland Woods Baptist Church in Clarkston and spending time with her grandchildren.
On March 13, 1959, she was united in marriage to Johnie Britt. Mr. Britt preceded her in death on March 13, 2014.
She is survived by her children, Jeanette (Brian) Wode and Jeff (Patty) Britt; by her grandchildren, Adam (Morgan) Wode, Patrick (Kaitlin McClendon) Wode, Michael (Emma) Wode, Spencer (Alexis) Britt, Candice (Joe) Kowalski; and by her great grandchildren, Skyelar, Resse, Mason, Louise, and Ben.
Other than by her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her grandson, Robert Dodd; and by all eight of her siblings.
Visitation will be held at Mathis Funeral Home in Dexter on Saturday, September 9, 2023, from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will then be conducted in the Mathis Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, September 10, 2023, at 1:30 p.m.
