Her first husband, Bruce Frederick Cummings, worked at the British Museum in the natural history department, but he is best remembered for his book, "The Journal of a Disappointed Man" published under the pseudonym W. N. P. Barbellion. After Cumming's death, she married Edwin Abbey on December 15, 1921.
