Fred was born August 4, 1952 and lived a rich full life until September 7, 2023 at the age of 71.
He was a talented musician, helping expand and keep the bluegrass music scene going. He played in multiple bands and promoted many shows. He also helped found the Rocky Branch Community Center and served as board president until his death.
Fred enjoyed building and flying model airplanes and drones with his brother, and later son and grandchildren. He was a member of the local West Monroe model airplane RC club. He also enjoyed hunting, watching football, and attending services at Crossroads Church of Christ.
He was a husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend always giving more of himself than he asked in return. He is loved.
Fred was preceded in death by his father Travis "Tony" O. Armstrong; mother Lillian Mae Armstrong; brother Tony "Little Tony" Armstrong; sister Dee Schimmel; brother-in-law Bob Stringer.
Fred is survived by his wife Cheryl Beach Armstrong; sister Rosalind Stringer; brother-in-law Gary Schimmel; three children Margie Albritton and husband Brenen, Freddy Armstrong Jr., Janis Shelburne and husband John; four grandchildren Alyssa and husband Cole, Abigail, Jake, and Emma; multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and other loved ones.
