William "Bill" Swaim, 82, of Port Lavaca, Texas passed away on Tuesday, August 29, 2023. He was born in Spearman, Texas to the late Wenzel Onais and Ione Winnifred Howie Swaim.

William was an ordained minister and locksmith prior to moving to Port Lavaca in 1972. The same year he opened the Get Together Skate Center. He continued his locksmith business with his close friend and so-called son, Keith Carr. He attended the Second Baptist Church. He remained passionate about his calling as minister and pastor. Soon after, William would become the Pastor at Second Baptist Church until his retirement. He was known for being a great mentor, friend, boss and made you feel like family.

He is survived by his daughter, Darla Jo Swaim of Abilene; son-in-law, Darrel Jones of Abilene; 5 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren; Keith Carr (Monica) and Sidney Burkett (Gay) who were like his own children.

He is preceded in death by his beloved wife of 18 years, Shirley May Swaim; parents, Wenzel Onais and Ione Winnifred Swaim; daughter, Debra Lynn Swaim Jones; sister, Aileen Winnifred; brothers, Wenzel James, Ralph Samuel, and Robert Lynn; and 2 great-granddaughters.

Visitation will be, Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 11:00AM – 1:00PM with a Chapel Service to begin at 1:00PM at Grace Funeral Chapel, 1604 W. Austin St., Port Lavaca with Pastor Johnny Kisiah to officiate. Burial to follow at Port Lavaca Cemetery, 500 Martin Luther King Drive, Port Lavaca.

Pallbearers will be, Christopher Swaim, Dylan Swaim, Keith Carr, David Garcia, Sidney Burkett, Melby Neil, and Eloy Galvan.

The family wishes to thank the caring staff of Bethany Senior Living of Port Lavaca and Hospice of South Texas of Victoria for the care given to "Mr. Swaim".
