Son of the late Needham Allison Bunn and Bessie Simpson Bunn, he retired in 1985 after 33 years with Seaboard Coastline Railroad as an auditor. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rocky Mount where he participated in the choir. He served with the United States Navy from 1943 unti 1946 as a radioman on the U.S.S. Wyoming during WWII. He also served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He attended Atlantic Christian College in Wilson, NC. He was an avid golfer. He married Helen Georgina Hildebrand on 1/1/1949. He was survived by his wife of 59 years; sons, Richard Allison Bunn, David Alan Bunn, Philip Jonathan Bunn, Kevin Scott Bunn and Brian Keith Bunn; grandchildren; three sibblings; and an extended family of relatives. His funeral was held 4/13/2008 with The Rev. Bill Grisham officiating.
