Melissa was born December 28, 1968, in Texarkana, Texas to Michael O. Rodgers and Joyce M. Davis. She lived and made friends in many places during her life. She spent time in Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, Washington, Maryland, Germany, and Iraq to name a few. She ultimately settled down in Bossier City, LA to work and be close to family.
Melissa had an adventurous spirit and never backed down from trying new things. She served proudly in the US Army and was honorably discharged in 2003. She went from being a soldier to a civilian soon after leaving the Army for a role working overseas with KBR. In this role she worked in the HR department for a few years at Camp Victory, Baghdad, Iraq before returning to the US. While back home she continued to work for the US Government at various locations until she retired.
She was never shy about meeting new people or helping others when she could. She had a giving heart and loved her family dearly. She was strong in her faith in the Lord and fought as long as her Earthly body would allow her to do so.
Melissa was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Luther Davis and Cordie Whittaker; paternal grandparents, Doyle Rodgers and Winnie McCormack; father, Michael Rodgers; half-brother, Michael Rodgers; and grandson, Colten Spaulding.
