Lewistown- Junior M. Brooks, 81, of 16338 E. Oak Point St; passed away at 10:37 AM Monday April 7, 2008 at Graham Hospital in Canton.

He was born Nov. 2, 1926 at Lewistown, the son of George and Gladys (Maranville) Brooks. He married Norma Eaton on Dec. 31, 1951 at Havana. She survives with 1 son, Dale (Deanna) Brooks of Canton, 1 daughter, Gail (Tom) Berry of Lewistown, 5 grandchildren, and 4 great grandchildren. He was preceded by his parents, 2 brothers, and 2 sisters.

He was a WW 2 Navy veteran serving on the USS Melvin. He was a retired Corporal with the Illinois State Police, retiring in December of 1984. He was a member of the Lewistown United Methodist Church, Illinois Troopers Lodge # 41, Lewistown Lodge # 104 AF & AM, Retired State Police Association, a life member of Lewistown VFW Post 5001, and was an Associate Guardian of Job's Daughters.

His funeral service will be held at 10:30 AM Thursday April 10, 2008 at the Lewistown United Methodist Church, with Reverend Bill Bunnage officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday April 9, 2008 from 5 -7 PM at Henry-Lange Memorial Home in Lewistown. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery in Lewistown, with military rites accorded by Lewistown VFW Post 5001 and American Legion Bishop Post 1.
