John Haskell Gillham Dies At Home In West
John Haskell Gillham died at 9:30 last night at Lawrence, Kansas, according to a telegram which was received this morning by his uncle, R. C. Gillham, of this city. The message did not convey information as to the cause of death or the arrangements for the funeral.
Relatives here were apprised a month ago that "Haskell" Gillham's health was failing and that the doctors had advised him to give up active business, which he had presisted in until that time.
Mr. Gillham was a native of Wanda, and grew to manhood there. He was a boyhood chum of his uncle, "Clark" Gillham, who was half a year younger. When the war broke out Haskell Gillhlam enlisted in the 117th Illinois and served three years. He spent a year at Wanda after being mustered out, then went west, locating in Kansas. He was twice married, and is survived by his second wife and two children, Arthur and Harry. There are two brothers, L. J., living in Kansas and S. C. Gillham at Springfield, Mo., and a sister, Clara, at Lawrence, Kansas. Mr. Gillham would have been 73 years old on February 12 of next year.
