Charles "JEEKER" Gallagher Barnes of Fresno(Fresno County), California; formerly of Hartford(Sebastian County), Arkansas, died Thursday, April 3, 2008 in Fresno. He was 75 years old. Mr. Barnes was born in Wister(LeFlore County), Oklahoma in 1933. He was the son of the late Clyde and Eurania Barnes. Mr. Barnes retired in 2000 after 50 years of service a a machinist. He was a U.S. Army veteran and had been active in youth sports in Inglewood, Anaheim, rancho Santa Margarita, and Fresno, California, since 1964.
Mr. Barnes was preceded in death by his parents; one sone Ronald Barnes and one brother: August Monroe Barnes.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Julia; two sons: Donald Barnes of Peoria, Arizonia and Gary Barnes of Anaheim, California; two daughters: Judy Bekdoud of Fresno, California and Pamela "Susie" Miller of Orange, California; three sisters: Edith Burrows and florence Seely, both of Mansfield, Arkansas and Juanita Buckman of Planview, Arkansas; four brothers: Alfred, A.C., and Dean Barnes all of Hartford, Arkansas; 6 grandchildren: Grace, Andrew, Brian, Alissar, Jamal, and Christopher; two sons-in-laws and two daughters-in-law; 2 precious great-grandsons; and a host of friends and relatives.
A memorial service was held at 2:00p.m. on Friday, April 11, 2008, at James Fork Baptist chruch. Rev. Whedbee officiated the service.
