A Celebration of Life for Garry Novak will be held from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, October 16, 2021 at The Comet Bowl, 1100 South Grand Avenue, Charles City, Iowa, 50616.
Garry Edward Novak was born on October 16, 1960 to Anthony "Tony" and Gladys (Zobeck) Novak in Charles City, Iowa. He was baptized into the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church and later confirmed. He attended the Charles City Community Schools where he graduated in 1979.
Garry started to work for the Barry Family in 1984 at the Comet Bowl. The bowling alley became his second family. Garry has touched so many people through the bowling alley, not only by mentoring many of his co-workers, but that famous smile and singing "Happy Birthday" to so many people of the community. He also worked a short time in Columbus Junction, Iowa with his brother Kenneth "JoJo" Novak at the bowling alley.
Garry was a member of the Moose Lodge and USBC Association. Garry had many interests which included bowling, collecting his Marvel Characters and comics, playing cards, board games, Wii, and computer games. A big joy was spending time with his family at our little get-togethers and he enjoyed time with great nieces and nephews as it kept him young at heart. Also he was the creative mind behind so many family events with banners, invitations, and decorating.
Garry was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Kenneth "JoJo" Novak.
