Nina Rose Amendola Polistena, 87, of Hyde Park, died on Thursday, September 14, 2023, at the Mid-Hudson Regional Hospital in Poughkeepsie.
Born June 22, 1936, in Brooklyn, she was the daughter of Charles and Jennie Catalanotto Campisi.
A graduate of Mount St. Mary College in Newburgh, Nina was a Registered Nurse at the Castle Point VA Medical Center in Wappingers Falls for many years. After her retirement from Castle Point, she worked for Hudson Valley Hospice.
Mrs. Polistena was a communicant of Regina Coeli Church in Hyde Park and a strong supporter of the Poor Clare Nuns of NY in Wappingers Falls.
Nina loved to travel; a love that began with a trip to a Dude Ranch in 1956 with her best friend, Lorraine, and continued throughout her life. Some of her favorite destinations included the Caribbean, Europe (Paris and Rome), Medjugorje (Croatia), Alaska, and Costa Rica.
Nina was predeceased by her first husband, Albert Amendola, in 1986. On December 22, 2011, in Regina Coeli Church, she married Joseph A. Polistena. Mr. Polistena survives at home.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her four children, Francis Amendola of Buffalo, Lisa Amendola of Rohnert Park, CA, Krista Amendola (Eric Dummel) of Mill Valley, CA, and Gerard Amendola of Sacramento, CA; five grandchildren, John Therien, and Allison, Corinne, Jillian, and Jason Dummel; brother, Peter Campisi (Joanne), of Venice, FL; and several nieces and nephews.
She is also survived by Joe's children, Cynthia Witman (James) of Hyde Park, Eric Polistena (Nancy) of Bethel, CT, and Anthony Polistena of Arizona; and two grandchildren, Stephanie and Ryan Polistena.
Calling hours will be from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM, Wednesday, Sept. 20th, at Sweet's Funeral Home, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Fr. Michael Morris at 10AM, Thursday, Sept. 21st, at Regina Coeli Church, Rte. 9, Hyde Park. Burial will follow in St. Denis Cemetery, Hopewell Junction.
